Sze Tsung Leong discusses History Images

This is a piece I edited for MoMA’s education department about Sze Tsung Leong’s photography series History Images. Here is how the artist describes it:

The photographs are of histories, in the form of cities in China, either being destroyed or created at this juncture in time. They are of past histories, in the form of traditional buildings and neighborhoods, urban fabrics, and natural landscapes, in the process of being erased. They are of the absence of histories, in the form of construction sites, built upon an erasure of the past so complete that one would never know a past had ever existed. And they are of the anticipation of future histories, yet to unfold, in the form of newly built cities.

“In the Voice of Our Mothers” – Promo

This is a promotional video I produced, directed, shot and edited for the play “In The Voice of Our Mothers.”

Noam Weinstein – “Gonna Have to Charge You”

Noam Weinstein’s band recorded a live album over three nights in May 2010 at The Living Room in New York and he tapped me to film the shows. We shot hand-held with two cameras and the venue’s lighting in order to capture the energy and intimacy of the performance without affecting the live audience’s ability to enjoy it.

More of ‘Noam Weinstein-Found Alive’ can be viewed at www.youtube.com/nosongs.

Chai Riders Motorcycle Club

This is a short video I made for MyJewishLearning.com on some maverick Jews: the NYC Chai Riders Motorcycle Club. They’re a great bunch of guys (and gals) and I had a really fun time shooting with them at the NYC Salute to Israel Parade.

Noam Weinstein Band Teaser/Promo

Noam and his band were preparing to record a live album during 3 concerts in May 2010 at The Living Room in New York’s Lower East Side. Noam felt that a good crowd would be important to both the quality of the shows and therefore the recordings. So we decided to put together a short promotional piece for Noam to explain this to fans and generate some buzz.

Kirk Bangstad Performance Reel

You need to install or upgrade Flash Player to view this content, install or upgrade by clicking here.

This is a 4-minute promotional piece for opera singer Kirk Bangstad. Whereas most singers simply create audio recordings to submit to agents and producers, I was interested in producing a sample video that would demonstrate the energy, charm and breadth of Kirk’s live performance.

Ophira Eisenberg, “Christmas in Calgary”

This is the first of a series of videos for myjewishlearning.com featuring young comedians telling funny, interesting stories from their Jewish childhoods. In this piece, Ophira Eisenberg discusses what it was like growing up as one of the only Jews in Calgary, Alberta during Christmas time. It seemed fitting to shoot her on the streets of the historically Jewish Lower East Side as a visual counterpoint to a story about “Santa-envy” in a non-Jewish town.
